Biography
Graduating from the Sculpture Department of the Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts in 2013, the artist currently lives and works between Princeton and Beijing.
Fang Xu is widely recognized as a highly influential sculptor and a leading figure in the Chinese contemporary art landscape. He is the recipient of numerous prestigious sculpture awards in China. His works have been formally acquired by prominent domestic and international institutions—including the German-Chinese Young Artists Development Fund, the Changchun Art Museum, the International Sculpture Park, and the Los Angeles Museum of Art—alongside extensive private collections. Furthermore, a selection of his major works was featured in the "China Star Project" and exhibited in global touring exhibitions.
As art critics have noted, Fang Xu's practice embodies the spirit of Cubism and the contemporary resonance of Expressionism, ultimately synthesizing them into his own distinct artistic philosophy and stylistic language: "Linear Cubism."
